“Time to Go” – Daryl Stuermer’s new solo album Go, reviewd by Alan Hewitt.

Daryl Stuermer albums are becoming a more frequent addition to the collection and this is his ninth solo effort so far. Fortunately now, Daryl also has a distribution deal in Europe which makes finding his albums a LOT easier than previously!

I was not greatly anamoured of Daryl’s last release that I was able to get my hands on but fortunately Go is an entirely different proposition. Opening with the awesome Fusion led Striker, the pace continues with Masala Mantra – a hot and spicy number, just likes its food counterpart!

Greenlight has the air if an Irish jug about it while Dream In Blue is redolent of guitar hero Al di Meola at his finest. Breaking Point sees Daryl unleash some really potent licks emphasising just how good a guitarist he is in his own right, not only as an interpreter of other peoples’ music.

Over all, this is an extremely enjoyable album and one which definitely highlights the talents of the “other guitarist” in Genesis – bravo Maestro!
