SAW IT ON THE TV

Yes, here we are again with a look at some of the most recent visual items to find their way into the TWR archive.

First of these is a very interesting TV interview with Ray Wilson. Titled “Talking All Stations” it features a fascinating chat with Ray about his time with the band during the recording of the Calling All Stations album and the subsequent tour. Ray does not hold back on his thoughts about the Genesis debacle and I admire his candour about what must have been a difficult situation for him.

Next up are a brace of recordings from Peter Gabriel’s “Back To Front” European tour. First of these is the show from the Palasport in Turin on 20th November 2014. Shot from a vantage point which gives a good view across the stage, this one manages to capture some of the drama and excitement that the shows generated although obviously the sound and visual quality will probably not be sufficient for the purists oyt there but for collectors this is another useful addition.

Next up is another performance from Peter from the following night in Turin. Once again, the cameraman (or woman!) has picked a useful spot from which to film and this is another nice addition to have if you can find a copy.

The final recording this time round is from Steve’s ongoing Genesis Revisited II tour. This one is from the US gig at the Scottish Rite (whatever that is?) Auditorium in Collingswood NJ on 21st November 2014. An above average film this one which manages to capture the excitement and enthusiasm of both the band and the audience in equal measures. The band appear relaxed and confident here and with so many shows under their belts that is not surprising and the end result is very enjoyable.

And that rounds it up for this edition.
